Mayor Andrew Lara

As your current Mayor, I am running for re-election to the City Council with a proven track record of leadership and dedication. Since taking office, I have worked tirelessly to address the challenges that face our city, including neglected roads, medians, contaminated water, and a broken Smith Aquatic Center.

Fulfilling my campaign promise, I set the tone for median beautification, resulting in a $10,000,000 grant. We invested $13,000,000 in water filtration to eliminate “forever chemicals,” and I fought for residents by initiating a class action lawsuit against 3M and Dupont, which will offset our costs. Additionally, I led an ad hoc committee that secured $11,000,000 for Rio Hondo Park and $34,000,000 for the Smith Aquatic Center, all without raising new taxes.

I also led the effort to designate Pico Rivera as a Purple Heart City to honor our veterans. My greatest honor was welcoming the Vietnam War Memorial and paying tribute to the 27 young men from Pico Rivera who gave their lives for our country.
